Glenn Stearns, Founder and CEO, Kind Lending, LLC

Glenn Stearns’ life has not been all about exceeding expectations and building a successful business. His unusual climb to the top began... as a son of alcoholic parents, diagnosed dyslexic, father of a child at the age of 14, and high school graduate in the bottom 10% of his class. He successfully turned his life around to enjoy many adventures and successes such as building Stearns Lending into America’s #1 Wholesale Lender in 2013 for two years in a row; traveling with astronauts and Vice Presidents; appearing on reality TV shows "Gilligan's Island" and “Undercover Billionaire”; to owning a Montana ranch with John Elway and a private Caribbean Island with Sir Richard Branson. Darryl Strawberry, Major League Baseball Legend

Throughout the 80s and 90s Darryl Strawberry was one of the top baseball sluggers in Major League Baseball. He helped the New York ... Mets to the World Series in 1986 and New York Yankees to three world series in 1996, 1998, and 1999. He was voted rookie of the year in 1983 and received a Hall of Fame nomination in 2004. But Darryl’s life after baseball wasn’t a glorious one. Drug abuse, rehab, house arrest, parole violations, colon and lymph node cancer, and divorce left him with a deep sense of hopelessness. Today life is different for Darryl Strawberry. His purpose and passion is serving the Lord by speaking message of hope and helping others transform their lives through the power of the gospel. He is an ordained minister, two-time cancer survivor, bestselling author, and Christian speaker.

Dominique Dawes, Three-time Olympian, Olympic Gold Medalist, and Owner of the Dominique Dawes Gymnastics Academy

Known in the gymnastics community as 'Awesome Dawesome,' Dominique Dawes was a 10-year member of ...the U.S. national gymnastics team, the 1994 U.S. all-around senior National Champion, a three-time Olympian, a World Championship silver and bronze medalist, and a member of the gold-medal-winning "Magnificent Seven" team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Dawes is also notable as being the first African-American woman to win an individual Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics, and the first black person of any nationality to win an Olympic-gold-medal in gymnastics. She is also one of only three female American gymnasts to compete in three Olympics and was part of their medal-winning teams: Barcelona 1992 (bronze), Atlanta 1996 (gold), and Sydney 2000 (bronze). She is also the Olympic bronze medalist on floor exercise from the Atlanta games. Dawes holds minority ownership of the Washington Spirit (DC’s professional women’s soccer team) and was the co-chair of the President’s Council for Fitness, Sports and Nutrition under the Obama administration. She starred in the Broadway hit musical, “Grease” and has been a motivational speaker for over 25 years.

An Introduction to Hope Builders

Brean’s Story.

Emancipated from the foster care system at just 16 years old, Brean had her first child while a senior in high school—and a second child only 10 months later. She was forced to piece together retail and service jobs just to survive. And she soon felt overwhelmed. ...

But through taking prenatal classes at a local community center during pregnancy, Brean befriended a Hope Builders’ alumni and also realized how much she admired medical workers. She got past her nerves and applied to the clinical medical assisting program. “As soon as I stepped on site at Hope Builders, I knew this is what I was meant to do” she says.

Brean got the hands-on skills training and support services vital for her to begin a career. Now, Brean is completing a 160-hour practical training with Memorial Care Medical Group. Hope Builders provided the foundation for Brean not only to support her family, but to help others change their life trajectories.
