Builder’s Luncheon 2022 Raised Over $155,000+!
In honor of 20 years of connecting young adults to careers in the building trades, Orange County leaders in the construction industry gathered for Hope Builders’ annual Builder’s Luncheon, which raised over $155,000!
Nearly 100 attendees enjoyed delicious BBQ at the luncheon hosted by Clark Construction Group, DPR Construction and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.
To kick off the Luncheon, trainees led tours of the Construction facilities and introduced attendees to the skills they were learning in their training courses at Hope Builders.
The program featured remarks from Carlos Gonzalez, Division President, Clark Construction, Michael Konetzke, Business Unit Leadership Team, DPR Construction and Mike Myers, Regional President, McCarthy Building Companies. The luncheon ended with a heartfelt speech by Andy, a Hope Builders’ trainee who left guests feeling inspired.
Andy shared how his journey through the construction program changed his life. Six months ago, Andy learned about Hope Builders’ Construction Training program from his Parole Officer. While serving his 2.5-year sentence, Andy missed out on the birth of his niece and the crucial time he had left with his brother, who died while Andy was incarcerated. Andy spoke about the pain and struggles he experienced throughout his incarceration. He spent his sentence reflecting and setting goals for a better future. After his release, Andy showed tremendous dedication to changing his life. He enrolled in Hope Builders’ Construction Training program and woke up every day at 4am to make it to training on time. He took the bus each day because he initially did not have a car or license. Not only was he a full time trainee, but he also worked part time to help pay bills and save up for a car. “Nothing will stop me from achieving this,” stated Andy. Andy continued to share his excitement with the audience announcing his most recent accomplishment – earning his Driver’s License!
Following Andy’s inspiring speech, attendees pledged more than $155,000 to help trainees — like Andy—transform their lives. Hope Builders believes in helping young adults reach their full potential. It could not happen without the ongoing, generous support of its partners and community members. Thank you for being a part of this 20-year journey in Construction!
