Greg and Sally Palmer credit the inspiring stories of transformation from Hope Builders’ young adults and the organization’s continuous innovation for their 20+ years of support. Since 2001, both Greg and Sally have raised funds and awareness for Hope Builders within the community through their respective roles as a strategic advisor and gala committee member for the organization.   

With nearly 35+ years of staffing industry expertise, Greg, sees Hope Builders as a solution to local employers seeking quality employees and young adults seeking the opportunity to launch their careers. As a former teacher, Sally is drawn to the organization’s commitment to on-going education and long-term mentorship to impact lives. Together, they believe in the untapped potential of Orange County’s out-of-work and out-of-school youth.  

Most recently, Greg assisted with the development and re-launch of Hope Builders Career Connections (HBCC)—the organization’s staffing agency. “Hope Builders’ successful transition from a non-profit to a social enterprise model is inspiring. Their graduates— who are trained, vetted and supported—are very rare and difficult to find in the community. Their ability to link this talent to great jobs adds tremendous value to employers looking for good talent that’s going to stick around and be productive for a long time.” Greg elaborates, “it’s not easy to change your business model. Hope Builders is not relying on what they did 25 years ago. They’re planning for their future and meeting the challenge head on.” 

The Palmers’ involvement has also inspired many of their friends and colleagues to invest in the mentorship, life skills and job skills training provided to Hope Builders’ young adults through the Amigo Scholarship program. “I recall experiencing a steep learning curve when starting my first job. You learn how to work by doing. As an employer myself, I’m grateful that Hope Builders prepares young adults for the workforce,” Greg states.
