Trainee Spotlight: Madison C.

Madison C - Blog post 10.9.24

Growing up in Orange, Madison dreamed of working in healthcare, but the high costs of training made that career path seem out of reach. After graduating from high school, she worked fast-food jobs while trying to figure out her next steps. When a friend introduced her to Hope Builders’ Clinical Medical Assisting (CMA) program, she was initially skeptical. “I was in disbelief,” she shares. “It sounded too good to be true.”

At Hope Builders, Madison received not only training in medical procedures and patient care but also employment readiness coaching and support to address barriers to employment. Madison quickly became immersed in the program, learning skills such as injections, measuring vital signs, proper patient documentation and time management.

After completing hard-skills training, Madison was paired with a local health center to complete her 160-hour externship, a requirement for CMA certification. She excelled during her time there, working directly with patients and further improving her knowledge and skills. When her externship ended, the health center recognized the value Madison brought to their team and offered her a full-time position as a medical assistant.

Hope Builders has opened doors Madison once thought were closed, allowing her to pursue her passion for helping others. She is now excited about her career in healthcare and the opportunity it provides for a stable future. “If it wasn’t for Hope Builders, I would not be in the position I am today. I am extremely grateful to demonstrate my passion and skills in this field.”

Thank you for providing young adults, like Madison, with hope for the future.
