The Sun Family Foundation: Creating a World Where Everyone Has the Opportunity to Thrive

Sun Family Foundation

Hope Builders is deeply grateful to The Sun Family Foundation for its generous multi-year grant in support of our workforce development programs. Founded in 1999 by co-founder of Kingston Technology, David Sun, and his wife Diana, The Sun Family Foundation envisions a world where all individuals and communities have access to meaningful opportunities.

The Sun Family Foundation’s support of Hope Builders transforms lives—opening doors to meaningful employment and economic stability for individuals, like Cesar, and their families.

Before joining Hope Builders, Cesar spent weekends working alongside his dad, hoping for a chance to achieve financial stability, but unsure of how to take the first step. That uncertainty turned into urgency when his girlfriend told him she was pregnant. Faced with the reality of becoming a father, Cesar knew he needed a stable income to support his growing family.

At Hope Builders, Cesar spent twelve weeks learning the technical skills to launch a career in construction. He also worked closely with a case manager to strengthen his professional communication skills, including networking and interviewing. His commitment to creating a better future paid off—after completing the program, Cesar was hired full-time as an electrical laborer at SASCO, earning $43,000 a year with full benefits.

“Hope Builders changed my life,” Cesar shares. “Because of this program, I will be able to reach my goals and have the money to support my family. I am now looking forward to watching my son grow.”

Thank you to The Sun Family Foundation for empowering young people, like Cesar, with the tools and resources to start careers. Together, we are creating a stronger, more resilient workforce—and a brighter future for Orange County.
