Michael and Pauline Smith: Investing in the Next Generation

Hope Builders is deeply grateful for the generous support of Michael and Pauline Smith. Introduced to the organization by their daughter Jan—a social worker at CHOC Children’s Hospital who recognized that her parents would value a program offering comprehensive services—Michael and Pauline have been loyal supporters for five years. Their generosity empowers young people, like Daisy, to gain the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams and build brighter futures.

Daisy came to Hope Builders looking for a fresh start after first failing community college, then dropping out of a medical training program she couldn’t afford. While enrolled at Hope Builders, Daisy gained the technical skills to excel in a career as a medical assistant, at no cost to her. She also received the wraparound support she needed to succeed, including one-on-one coaching, stipends to help with groceries, and training in interview skills and public speaking.

Today, Daisy is employed as a medical assistant at a local health clinic, earning more than $54,000 annually. She is proud of how far she’s come and is building a stable future for her family. Thank you to Michael and Pauline Smith for investing in young people and helping them build pathways to prosperity. As Daisy says, “You have changed my life completely and I will forever be grateful.”
