Corporate Volunteers Help Young Adults Prepare for Job Interviews

CDC6 11.7

This month, 39 volunteers joined Hope Builders for mock interviews with the Clinical Medical Assisting and Child Development Careers training programs. Mock interviews are critical in helping trainees reduce anxiety, familiarizing them with the interview process and enabling them to feel less overwhelmed when facing real-life opportunities.

During mock interviews, volunteers help young adults practice their interviewing skills and build confidence in their job search. By simulating real interview scenarios, these sessions help trainees improve their communication abilities and identify areas where they may need to improve.

Volunteers are provided with all the resources needed to effectively interview and evaluate trainees, including sample interview questions, job descriptions and trainee resumes. The event is held over Zoom, allowing participants to easily participate from their home or office. Each interview lasts twenty minutes and volunteers may interview 3-5 trainees. Following mock interviews, Hope Builders staff uses volunteer evaluations to provide individualized coaching and goal-setting.

Hope Builders is grateful to the following companies for their employee participation in November:

  • Always Recruiting, Inc.
  • Banc of California
  • Bank of America
  • BEHR
  • Disneyland Resort
  • Everbank
  • JPMorgan Chase
