Hope Builders Trainees Visit PCL’s Santa Ana Public Library Project

In September, PCL Construction welcomed Hope Builders trainees to their Santa Ana Public Library jobsite. Trainees had the opportunity to tour the site and see the project in action and hear directly from trade partners as well as PCL employees about their own career journeys—from their first steps in construction to the skills and mindset needed to grow into leadership.
The visit gave Hope Builders’ young adults more than a behind-the-scenes look at a building coming to life. It brought to life what’s possible once they complete the training program.
James Lutz, PCL Superintendent, reminded trainees that construction is as much about persistence as it is about skill. “Show up every day with a good attitude and be ready to learn,” he said. “The job will keep teaching you and doors will keep opening.”

Jeyre Lewis, PCL Orange County Area Manager, shared about his own career journey and encouraged trainees on their pathway to prosperity. “Everything in life takes time. Put in the work. Stay curious and keep learning.”
For trainees, the visit to the Santa Ana Public Library project highlighted the importance of curiosity, perseverance, and teamwork for lasting success in the construction industry.
Hope Builders is thankful to the entire PCL team for showing its trainees the possibilities that await them once they successfully complete training.
