Inspiring Others to Invest in Hope: SC Fuels and the Greinke Family

This year, as Hope Builders’ 2016 Best of Friends Honoree and a Premier Sponsor of the Light Up A Life gala, the Greinke Family and SC Fuels invited their friends and colleagues to join them in supporting our work to prepare Orange County youth for the workplace. Margaret Greinke shared that 15 years ago, she was immediately drawn to the vision of Hope Builders’ founder, Sister Eileen McNerney, to respond to the needs of young people living in poverty throughout Central Orange County. Margaret and her husband, Frank, jumped right in to help Sister Eileen create an alternative to the streets for our community’s youth. Margaret and Frank pulled in their company—SC Fuels—and throughout the past years, in addition to their financial support, the company has hired Hope Builders’ youth.

This year, the Greinkes rallied their friends and colleagues behind Hope Builders, offering to match every dollar raised for Hope Builders up to $75,000. Their friends exceeded all expectations and collectively contributed over $150,000! To echo the remarks of Margaret and Frank’s son, Frank P. Greinke at the Light Up A Life gala, “thank you for giving Hope Builders’ youth the greatest gift of all—opportunity!” Hope Builders is grateful to the Greinke Family and SC Fuels for inspiring others to invest in hope.
