St. Joseph Health – Connecting Hope Builders’ Youth to Career Opportunities for Over 20 Years

Since 1997, St. Joseph Health and its ministries in Orange County—St. Joseph Hospital, Mission Hospital and St. Jude Medical Center have been instrumental in connecting Hope Builders’ disadvantaged youth to career opportunities in healthcare. St. Joseph Health has developed an internal internship opportunity for Hope Builders youth in its Revenue Cycle Services that has since evolved into a best practice model for other partners to replicate.

St. Joseph Health was critical to the successful launch and recruitment of members for Hope Builders’ 100—a growing coalition of Orange County executives committed to transforming lives and closing the skills gap. Jo Ann Escasa-Haigh, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Operations and Business Development at St. Joseph Health, and Jeremy Zoch, Chief Executive Officer at St. Joseph Hospital, are both members of this group. “It is exciting to see prominent Orange County business leaders come together to help solve the skills gap,” states Escasa-Haigh.

Additionally, many other St. Joseph Health staff members give of their time and talent by serving as volunteers with the organization. For example, Katie Skelton, Chief Nursing Officer at St. Joseph Hospital is leading Hope Builders’ growth strategy as chair of the board of directors.

Hope Builders is proud to recognize St. Joseph Health—in conjunction with Mission Hospital, St. Jude Medical Center, and St. Joseph Hospital—as a Premier Sponsor at the 2018 Light Up A Life gala. Hope Builders is honored to call them a partner and is grateful for their 21 years of support.
