On the morning of May 14th, Hope Builders welcomed 37 women leaders from across Orange County to Shady Canyon Country Club for an engaging discussion about finding passion and purpose through philanthropy. The event served as both a celebration of female leadership and a powerful call to action to support young people seeking opportunity who are enrolled in Hope Builders training programs.

Hope Builders Board Member Liz Mirza graciously opened the morning by sharing her personal journey with the organization. Introduced to the mission by a friend, Liz spoke passionately about its impact and her excitement in bringing others into the cause.
“We’re here today because we believe in the power of women to uplift one another,” Liz shared. “I’m thrilled to welcome you to be part of a mission that’s changing lives right here in our community.”

Following Liz’s welcome, Christa Sheehan, Hope Builders’ Deputy Director, took the stage to delve deeper into our mission: empowering young adults—many of whom face tremendous challenges—by helping them build careers and brighter futures.

The heart of the morning was a lively panel conversation, moderated by Liz and featuring Lindsay Joseph and Sara Palmer. These female entrepreneurs and philanthropists reflected on their career journeys, including the launch and growth of their company into the largest privately owned provider of special education staffing services in California prior to its sale to the Stepping Stones. They also highlighted the vital role of family support and mentorship in building their success. They shared how their expertise has been pivotal in guiding Hope Builders in the creation of its social enterprise staffing agency, Hope Builders Career Connections, and expressed their passion for connecting program graduates to upwardly mobile careers.

As the morning concluded, guests didn’t just leave inspired—they left activated. Whether by volunteering, making a financial gift, or simply spreading the word, each woman in attendance was invited to play a role in transforming the lives of young adults in Orange County.

We are grateful to Liz for her vision in bringing this inaugural event to life. We look forward to gathering again later this year in support of Hope Builders.
