On Monday, June 26, Hope Builders welcomed over 200 friends and family members to its Summer Advancement Ceremony to celebrate the 114 young adults who reached significant milestones—ranging from training completion to successfully retaining their new career—along Hope Builders’ student journey.

Pictured above are individuals who entered the Career Builder Stage, having successfully completed training in either Healthcare or Construction and launched their new careers with local employers.

U.S. Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) joined the celebration and commended graduates, while also sharing his pathway to becoming a US Congressman. “I’m a member of Congress today. Never did I think that a kid from the hood would be walking the halls of Congress. Surely, someone made a mistake. But here I am.”

Demonstrating his support of Hope Builders, Congressman Correa presented a $500,000 check to support Hope Builders’ efforts to move young adults from poverty to prosperity.

Before leaving, he offered one final message of support to all of the graduates, “If I can leave you with one message tonight it would be to believe in yourself, even when no one else does, and work hard. You live in the greatest country in the world and the opportunities are there for you to accomplish your dreams. Everyone needs some help along the way, and your community and Hope Builders is here to support you.”

The program also included heartfelt testimonials from Medical Assisting graduates who shared their appreciation for Hope Builders and the support they’ve received, and the importance of believing in yourself and keeping a positive attitude.

Many thanks again to all those who joined us and congratulations again to our young adults!
