Volunteer Spotlight: William Vu & State Farm

William

Hope Builders is proud to recognize State Farm as a partner in its efforts to help Orange County’s young people realize their dreams. Since 2021, State Farm has supported the mentorship, life skills and job skills training of Hope Builders’ trainees through its Good Neighbor Citizenship company grants.

Additionally, State Farm team members like, William Vu, regularly invest their time as mock interview volunteers to help trainees prepare to enter the workforce. William is passionate about helping to build a stronger and better educated Orange County.

“Good neighbors give back. I wish I had someone helping me develop these skills when I was 18,” William shares. “I felt uncertainty starting my career and wasn’t sure how to process the rejection I encountered. I’m impressed to see how prepared and confident Hope Builders’ trainees are.”

William encourages others to join him as a mock interview volunteer and actively recruits his friends and colleagues to join him. “I’ve served trainees in construction and healthcare; the only difference is the job description. Every candidate effectively conveys their motivations and knowledge. The ability to provide good customer service, share how you approach stressful situations and show how you will positively contribute to a team is needed across all industries.”

Hope Builders is grateful to William and State Farm for their investment in Hope Builders, together we will prepare a strong future workforce for Orange County.
