You Helped Grecia Launch her IT Career
During these uncertain times, Hope Builders is happy to share some good news. Thanks to your support, Grecia has launched her IT career!
“Life kept getting in the way…”
After she found out she was pregnant, it took Grecia a little bit longer to finish high school. She eventually graduated and hoped to one day go to college. About 5 years ago she applied to Hope Builders, but, “life kept getting in the way so I had to find any job I could to support my family,” Grecia recalls. Over the years Grecia worked in a warehouse and at a bank, where she first got interested in computers. She liked that the IT people could diagnose and fix problems. Determined, last August Grecia enrolled in Hope Builders’ IT program, offered in partnership with Santa Ana College.
From Jobs Work intern to full-time employee despite pandemic.
In January 2020, Grecia completed training and was selected by Hope Builders’ employer partner, BriteCity, to work as a paid intern for 12 weeks. Hope Builders Construction Company remained the employer of record for Grecia and provided her ongoing coaching and support to ensure retention. Grecia’s skills training helped her manage issues related to client computer systems and provide technical support. Grecia excelled in her internship and accepted a full-time position with BriteCity in March. She now earns $15 per hour with full benefits.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Hope Builders. Your generosity strengthens Orange County and launches careers for young adults like Grecia.
